The LCI core facility got a new name! 😊

We have thought about it for a long time and finally it has happened! The Live Cell Imaging core facility just got a new name!

We are now the Luminous Cell Imaging core facility! 😀

Changing Live to Luminous means that our name reflects more the samples imaged at our facility. We do image lots of cells in culture or in tissues. Some of these are sometimes alive but many of our samples are fixed.

We are delighted to have such a poetic name and also to keep our well known ‘LCI’ trademark.

We first opted for Luminous Creatures Imaging but our management did not think too high of the creatures… 😅

Open House at the LCI core facility – 17th of September 2026

On the 17th of September, the LCI core facility will open its door to everyone interested in seeing what we have to offer.

There will be guided tours, multiple demos (confocal Ax, super resolution NSPARC, Light sheet and multiplexing with 7 colours), private demos where you can bring your own sample and a workshop where you can learn how to easily make article figures using OMERO.

Our facility will also get a new name which will be announced to all visitors. 😊
